Department For Work and Pensions (DWP)

The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) is responsible for the Government's welfare reform agenda. Its aim is to promote opportunity and independence for all. It delivers support and advice through a modern network of services to people of working age, employers, pensioners, families and children and disabled people.

Department for Communities and Local Government (DCLG)

The Department for Communities and Local Government (DCLG) was created on 5 May 2006 with a powerful remit to promote community cohesion and equality, as well as responsibility for housing, urban regeneration, planning and local government.

The Department for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform

The Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS) is here to help ensure business success in an increasingly competitive world. Our role is to boost productivity and keep the UK competitive and an attractive place to do business, especially in challenging economic times, as well as to help companies succeed overseas and to bring foreign investment to the UK.

Cabinet Office

The Cabinet Office (CO) sits at the very centre of government and, together with the Treasury, provides the 'head office' of government. The Cabinet Office has an overarching purpose of Making Government work better.

HM Treasury

HM Treasury is the United Kingdom's Economics and Finance ministry. It is responsible for formulating and implementing the Government's financial and economic policy. Its aim is to raise the rate of sustainable growth, and achieve rising prosperity and a better quality of life with economic and employment opportunities for all.

Home Office

Home Office is the lead government department for immigration and passports, drugs policy, counter-terrorism and police.

The Government Equalities Office

The Government Equalities Office (GEO) is a new self-standing Department, whose mission is to put equality at the heart of Government. The GEO is responsible for the Government's overall strategy on equality, (including a new Equality Bill and Public Service Agreement) as well as leading on women's issues across Government, and sponsoring the Equality and Human Rights Commission and Women's National Commission.

The Equality and Human Rights Commission

The Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) is working to eliminate discrimination, reduce inequality, protect human rights and to build good relations, ensuring that everyone has a fair chance to participate in society.

Confederation of British Industries

The Confederation Of British Industry (CBI) represents companies from all sectors of UK business: small and large, from manufacturing to retailing, agriculture to construction, hi-tech to finance, transport to consultancy.

The Trade Union Congress (TUC)

The Trade Union Congress (TUC) brings Britain’s unions together to draw up common policies. lobbying the Government to implement policies that will benefit people at work and campaigning on economic and social issues. It represents working people on public bodies, represents British workers in international bodies, in the European Union and at the UN employment body - the International Labour Organisation. The TUC carries out research on employment - related issues and runs an extensive training and education programme for union representatives.
