Area Initiatives and Communities Division
From the 3rd of October 2006 the Ethnic Minority Employment Division will be incorporated into a wider new division, Area Initiatives and Communities.
Work in relation to the City Strategy, Area Based initiatives including the lead on the Olympics, and Disadvantaged Communities will now be incorporated into one combined division, therefore bringing alignment across all these topics.
This will give priority to and ensure that our work in relation to disadvantaged and ethnic minority communities will be mainstreamed and given greater leverage. It will also provide for closer links between the City Strategy, which has significant Ministerial political weight behind our focus on helping the most disadvantaged in deprived areas into work.
The new division will be led by Nahid Majid as Deputy Director and will have teams covering the City Strategy, Area Initiatives, Areas Funds, Disadvantaged Communities and the work of Ethnic Minorities, including the Ethnic Minority Employment Task Force.
